Georgia cop saves a dying baby

A Georgia officer is praised for her brave efforts to save the life of a child who was choking to death.

Officer Alexis Callaway of the Senoia Police Department leapt into action as a four-week-old infant began to suffocate, as captured on body cam footage.

“Do not hesitate. I noticed the child. “I saw that the kid was born to the grandmother,” Callaway told FOX 5 Atlanta. “I took it. “I made myself at home and departed.”

Before delivering first aid, the officer, who joined the Senoia police force in 2020, stormed into the child’s home and seized the infant.

“I’ve been qualified to work with children since I was 16 years old,” Callaway told the site.

After administering first aid, which included continuously rubbing the infant on the back and moving him, bodycam footage revealed that the infant successfully vomited out the obstructing fluids and resumed regular breathing.

“It is meant to dislodge anything that may be restricting the airway,” explained Callaway of the life-saving treatment. “And you’re meant to tilt them somewhat downward to assist in removing them.”

The valorous act of Callaway was not unnoticed. In a ceremony next month, she will receive the Senoia Police Department’s lifesaving honor.

She continued, “It’s fulfilling, I believe he was one month old, and now he has the rest of his life.”

As anxious family members watch, Officer Alexis Callaway delivers the lifesaving procedure to the infant who is choking.

The officer urged others to study CPR and first aid so that they, too, might one day be able to save a life.

Captain Jason Ercole of the Senoia Police Department stated of Callaway’s actions, “She prevented what could have been a tragic conclusion by bringing a sense of calm to the entire scenario, even during the chaos.”
