Georgia Bulldogs beat Texas Christian in the national championship

The University of Georgia Bulldogs are likely the best college football team, and they competed once again. Georgia defeated Texas Christian University 65-7 in the college football national championship game with an uncompromising and overwhelming performance to remain unbeaten and repeat as champions.

Georgia scored the most points in a (BCS/College Football Playoff) championship game with 65.

TCU had established itself as a formidable opponent, and Georgia had no response. Stetson Bennett, the senior quarterback for Georgia, scored the game’s first touchdown on a 21-yard run following the kickoff. The Bulldogs sliced through the TCU defense and marched down the field in roughly three minutes.

Midway through the first quarter, Georgia increased their lead to 10-0 with a 24-yard field goal after forcing a fumble on the Horned Frogs’ subsequent offensive possession.

However, third-ranked TCU responded on its subsequent drive. Horned Frogs quarterback Max Duggan completed a touchdown pass of 75 yards. Similar to the Georgia quarterback, Heisman runner-up Duggan rushed for a touchdown to narrow the Georgia lead to 10-7. It would be the only point scored by TCU in the game.

Georgia immediately replied with a touchdown throw of 37 yards from Bennett to increase their lead to 17-7. In the second quarter, the Bulldog defense halted TCU’s next possession and then drove 92 yards for another Stetson Bennett rushing touchdown to give Georgia a 24-7 lead.

Georgia raced to a 38-7 halftime lead, scoring on each of its six drives (the first team to do that in the playoffs). In the first half, the Bulldogs accumulated 354 yards of offense and averaged 9 yards per play.

Positively, TCU began the second half by forcing Georgia to punt. But the Horned Frog attack was once again halted, and the Bulldogs picked up where they left off with Bennett throwing another touchdown pass to increase their advantage to 45-7.

With approximately 11 minutes remaining in the third quarter, the game was declared over.

Stetson Bennett, the quarterback for the Bulldogs, scored six touchdowns (two rushing and four passing) before being taken out of the game 95 seconds into the fourth quarter.

Georgia entered the game with a perfect record of 14-0 and as the defending national champion. Georgia, led by Bennett, a former walk-on quarterback, dominated the Southeastern Conference, the greatest college football conference. Georgia was ranked first for the most of the season.

Texas Christian University is a private institution in Fort Worth, Texas. It entered the championship game with a 13-1 record and the Big 12 Conference title. Prior to the start of the season, TCU was predicted to finish sixth in the conference and had odds of 200-to-1 to win the national championship. Throughout the season, though, the Horned Frogs’ propensity to win astonished most football fans. They were unable to defeat Georgia in the most critical game of the year.

The Southeastern Conference has dominated the college football playoffs for Division I FBS. Six times since the CFP’s inception in 2014, an SEC club has won the championship. Prior to Georgia, no team in the CFP era had repeated as national champion.

One noteworthy Bulldog was not present for the victory. Uga X, Georgia’s renowned mascot, did not go to southern California for the championship game. The bulldog is a familiar sight at Georgia games, donning a UGA uniform and lounging in a doghouse with air conditioning. The 9-year-old bulldog’s owners told WTOC that a cross-country travel would have been too difficult for him.
