Tragic news has befallen the top football program less than a week after Georgia won the national championship in convincing style.

Devin Willock, an offensive lineman, and Chandler LeCroy, a staff member, perished in an automobile accident, the school revealed in a statement. Two additional team members who were not identified but were also injured in the incident are in stable condition.

Following a parade on Saturday in Athens, Georgia, where Willock and his teammates celebrated their historic 65-7 victory over TCU, the tragedy occurred.

Devin Willock passed away at the scene of a car accident on Sunday morning, which also injured two other football staff members and claimed the life of a Georgia employee.

The terrible deaths of football student-athlete Devin Willock and football staff member Chandler LeCroy left “the entire Georgia family devastated,” according to the statement. “Two additional football players suffered injuries in the incident. Both of them are in stable condition, and we will keep an eye on them with medical professionals.

“Devin and Chandler were two exceptional individuals who greatly influenced the University of Georgia, our football team, and our athletic department. During this extremely trying time, we kindly ask that everyone remember their families in their prayers.

“The UGA Athletic Association will collaborate with our medical staff, as well as our mental health and performance staff, to ensure we are giving our employees and student-athletes who are going through this grief the best help we can. At this time, we are unable to comment further, but we do ask that everyone continue to pray for all involved.
