Gender Mainstreaming Awards (GMA) returns in 2022 to Reward Individuals and Organisations

The Gender Mainstreaming Awards (GMA) will return in 2022 with the goal of rewarding organizations and individuals who are at the forefront of gender diversity in Africa and are making the business case for it. On October 6, 2022, the awards will be held all over Africa.

The awards have proven to be the ideal forum for sharing stories, strategies, and expanding the conversation and platform for organizations to engage and share best practice in corporate gender mainstrteaming during the past nine years.

This year’s 10th GMA ceremony, organized by Business Engage, comes hot on the heels of a tremendously successful virtual celebration conducted in 2021, which was seen by over 8000 people throughout the continent despite a pandemic.

“Despite the challenges of organizing award ceremonies and recognising achievement in gender mainstreaming, the Gender Mainstreaming Awards experience must never end,” says Colleen Larsen, CEO of Business Engage and President of the 30% Club East and Southern Africa.

Companies who have launched initiatives and are making advances to accelerate diversity with a focus on gender mainstreaming are encouraged to submit nominations to Business Engage.

There are several categories for firm nominations, including Women on Boards, Equal Representation & Participation, Women Empowerment in the Workplace, Investing in Young Women, and Mainstreaming Gender & Disability, to mention a few.

RMB Africa’s Fearless Thinker Award, the Inclusive Leader Award, and the Positive Role Model Award are among the three individual categories.

“We’ve chosen some of the most famous business leaders who are good representatives of what the awards stand for to serve as judges in each region,” Larsen says.

Accenture. The sponsors for the 2022 awards are all making significant contributions to gender mainstreaming in their respective businesses.

“At Accenture, we are happy to be part of an organization that has for many years been a leader and champion of inclusion, diversity, and gender equality in every form,” says Ntombi Mangwani, Africa director for integrated marketing and communications and Women’s Forum head.

We’d like to help other organizations get to where we are, as well as congratulate the leaders who have taken the vital step of doing the right thing, since it’s a business imperative for us.”

There is no fee to apply, and all submissions must be submitted through the Gender Mainstreaming Awards website.

The deadline for entries is June 28, 2022, and the awards ceremony will be held virtually on October 6, 2022. Visit www.GenderAwards.com to submit your nomination and participate in the virtual awards presentation.
