An early morning gas explosion in Lagos State has resulted in four individuals sustaining injuries. The incident occurred in the Agege area of Lagos, specifically near the Apostolic Church, Agege. The explosion was caused by a gas leak from a nearby shop.

Injuries and Response:

The four injured individuals, consisting of one man and three women, suffered various degrees of injuries as a result of the explosion. They were promptly attended to by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).

According to Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, the Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, the victims suffered second-degree burns and were immediately transported to the hospital for treatment.

No Loss of Life:

Fortunately, despite the severity of the incident, no lives were lost. The quick response and combined efforts of LASEMA’s pre-hospital care and the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) ensured the injured individuals received timely medical attention.

The victims were subsequently transferred to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) for further treatment.

Containment of the Incident:

The gas explosion has been effectively contained by the collaborative response of various emergency services. LASEMA’s Local Response Team (LRT) worked alongside the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service to completely extinguish the inferno.

Furthermore, a post-incident assessment was conducted by LASEMA’s LRT in conjunction with the Lagos State Government (LASG) Fire department.

As a precautionary measure, the affected shop has been cordoned off to prevent any secondary incidents. The operation has been successfully concluded, and the authorities are actively ensuring the safety and well-being of the affected individuals and the surrounding area.
