Former world champion boxer Glenn McCrory is attempting to have sexual assault charges against him to be dismissed

Glenn McCrory, a former boxing world champion, is attempting to have the sexual assault charges against him dropped.

During a VIP dinner at Anthony Joshua’s title fight against Oleksandr Usyk, the 57-year-old is accused of sexually assaulting three schoolgirl waitresses.

The alleged incidents allegedly occurred on September 25 of last year while the ex-cruiserweight, 57, was a guest of honor at a dinner at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in north London.

On June 16, he was indicted in Highbury Magistrates’ Court on three counts of sexual assault against each alleged victim.

At Wood Green Crown Court, Mr. McCrory entered a not guilty plea to each of the three counts and chose a jury. He was then given unconditional bail until this day.

Through a video link from Newcastle Crown Court, Mr. McCrory attended a plea hearing in crown court today, and his attorney said he would ask to have all three charges dropped.

According to The Northern Echo, Judge David Aaronberg QC gave the defence till July 28 to present a brief justification for the dismissal of the charges.

The prosecution then has until August 4 to react.

The dismissal hearing will be heard in court the following day with a one-hour time estimate, the judge and counsel agreed.

At a prior court proceeding, the prosecutor Jyothi Somavarapu stated: “The London Academy of Excellence was hosting a dinner event related to boxing at Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

Student waitresses were invited to work.

At 4.30 p.m., someone approached Mr. McCrory and inquired about the table he was occupying.

He spoke to this young lady and said, “Whatever table you’re at,” while grabbing her hands and arm.

“Various remarks were being spoken, and two other girls found themselves in a like circumstance, and all three mentioned similar things,” the report continues.

McCrory, a resident of Burnopfield in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and a native of County Durham, earned the moniker “Northern Warrior” throughout his fighting career.

In June 1989, he won the IBF cruiserweight world championship, which he retained until the following year.

McCrory has held the British and Commonwealth Cruiserweight belts during his thirty-win career.
