Over Memorial Day weekend, pro-abortion graffiti was sprayed on an archdiocesan pro-life pregnancy clinic in Hollywood, Florida.
Written outside the South Broward Pregnancy Help Center, located about 45 minutes north of Miami were “If abortions aren’t safe then neither [sic] are you,” “Janes revenge,” and an anarchist symbol.
According to Dr. Grazie Pozo Christie, a volunteer radiologist at the clinic, the center is one of three run by the Archdiocese of Miami in the city. The vandalism took place between Saturday, May 28 and Monday, May 30, said Christie.
No one was at the clinic at the time of the incident, she added. The graffiti, according to Christie, has been painted over. She claimed there was no further damage to the clinic.
Christie shared a statement from Miami Archbishop Thomas Wenski condemning the damage with CNA.
“Acts of vandalism like this defacing of our Respect Life ministry’s pregnancy assistance center is not just destructive of private property; it also expresses contempt for the beliefs, values and practices of a faith community and could easily escalate to physical harm to members of these faith communities,” the archbishop said.
“Our Jewish brothers and sisters take very seriously any vandalism against their synagogues,” he added. “History shows that their concern is not misplaced. We too are concerned.”
The act of vandalism follows a series of attacks on pro-life pregnancy facilities around the country. Pro-life pregnancy clinics and churches have been targeted by vandalism, rallies, and pro-abortion graffiti since an opnon draft from the Supreme Court revealing that justices were ready to overturn Roe v Wade was leaked to the media in early May.
The official opinion or decision in that case, Dobbs V. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, is scheduled to be released towards the end of June or the beginning of July.
