Police said a grandma was killed by a forklift at a hotel in Florida that was undergoing Hurricane Ian-related repairs.
Monday around 1:45 p.m., Susan Brock, 62, was reportedly struck at the Beach Haven Motel in Daytona Beach Shores, according to Daytona Beach Shores Public Safety Director Chief Mike Fowler.
Brock, a resident of the hotel, was reportedly struck by the elevator while strolling through the parking lot. At the local hospital, she was pronounced dead.
The forklift had been bringing roofing materials to the hotel in order to repair damage caused by Hurricane Ian in September.
Chief Fowler stated, “This was a tragic accident, and we will conduct a thorough investigation to determine what caused it.”
According to Fowler, the motorist did not notice Brock before he struck her.
Shawn Brock, the grandson of Susan Brock, told the news source that he still had unanswered questions regarding the accident.
“How did she not move out of its path? Didn’t she hear it? Did she attempt to move aside?” he stated.
According to officials, the driver is cooperating with investigators and OSHA has been alerted.
