Five DANGEROUS inmates escape – Have you seen these men?

The Zeerust police have launched a manhunt for five men who escaped. All five of them were awaiting trial for crimes, including house robbery, rape, attempted murder, business robbery, and aggravated robbery.

According to the police spokesperson Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone the men escaped on Sunday.

“Police in Zeerust launched a manhunt for five awaiting trial detainees who escaped from lawful custody at about 10:30 on Sunday, 8 May 2022.

“The escapees, Joshua Sibanda (39), Amogelang Motsiane (36), Tshepiso Kwenampe (22), Bengu Hlanganane (31) and Enoch Lebeloane (46), allegedly overpowered a police officer at Zeerust police station holding cells, then took cells key from the member and ultimately escaped.”

Mokgwabone said none of the escapees had been re-arrested, and members of the community are urged not to attempt to re-arrest the escapees in case they see them but to call the nearest police station, as they (escapees) are presumed to be dangerous.

Meanwhile, earlier this year four DANGEROUS prisoners who escaped from the Rooigrond Correctional Facility.

According to spokesperson Singabakho Nxumalo, the circumstances relating to the escape will be revealed once investigations have been concluded.
