Femi Martins Esq., the governor’s special adviser on tourism, arts, and culture, organized a holiday planning group

A planning committee has been established by Mr. Femi Martins Esq., Special Adviser to the Governor on Tourism, Arts, and Culture, as Lagos gets ready for the traditional holiday celebrations dubbed “Greater Lagos 2022.”

Speaking at the Local Organising Committee (LOC) launch in Alausa, Ikeja, Femi Martins revealed that the annual fiesta will take place over three days simultaneously in each of the state’s five divisions—Ikorodu, Badagry, Ikeja, Lagos Island, and Epe—from December 29 to December 31, with fireworks to ring in the new year (IBILE).

I am a very practical person, and we all on the committee have a very limited amount of time to make the event happen. We must all work quickly to accomplish our goal.

Approximately two months into December, the Special Adviser asserts that all hands must be on deck to ensure the success of the “Greater Lagos 2022” fiesta, noting that the event was planned to engage and entertain Lagosians as well as for the youth to display their talents in dancing, music, and photography, among other things.

Another speaker at the event, Mrs. Yetunde Simpson, a member of the Committee and the Director of Research and Development in the Ministry, noted that people from other states and diaspora residents of Lagos who travel to Lagos for the holidays to have fun would also attend the fiesta.

She listed a few of the planned events for the occasion, including a children’s corner, a beer village, and performances by local and national artists.

“For an event to go off without a hitch and be successful, the planning process must be smooth, well-coordinated, with great ideas and active participation from everyone. Let’s collaborate both inside and outside of the committees to highlight Lagos’ high caliber, the director said.

Members of the committee include the Director of Research and Development, Mrs. Yetunde Simpson, Senior Special Assistant to Mr. Governor on Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Mr. Tunji Seymour, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Mr. Femi Martins Esq., and Senior Special Assistant to Mr.
