Lagos State Government and Stanbic IBTC Bank gave unemployed youths POS devices

In an effort to ease the struggles encountered by the less fortunate in the State, especially those looking to seek a legal source of income, the Lagos State Government, in partnership with Stanbic IBTC Bank, has provided Point of Sales (POS) devices to hundreds of unemployed youths.

Speaking at the distribution ceremony for some unemployed state residents, Hon. (Mrs.) Yetunde Arobieke, Commissioner, Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment, explained that the gesture is a representation of Governor Babajide Sanwo-efforts Olu’s to achieve financial transformation for the youths.

She underlined that the gesture also serves as a sign that the Lagos State Government, led by Mr. Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, is committed to easing the suffering of the State’s less fortunate citizens.

The empowerment program, she continued, is specifically intended for people who wish to support themselves through lawful means, giving them tranquility and peace of mind.

There is no denying that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is a youth-centric governor who is aware of the struggles faced by millions of Lagos youngsters, which is why he is constantly prepared to provide his agreement and approval to any program that is youth-focused.

Arobieke thanked Stanbic IBTC for supporting the State Government’s “Greater Lagos Vision” to combat the plague of unemployment, emphasizing that the action will help the recipients’ sufferings.

“You all have to consider the fact that you have been given a rare chance which, if correctly employed, would lead to a full transformation of your entire lives,” the Commissioner told the recipients of the POS Machines.

The empowerment program is a collaborative initiative between Stanbic IBTC and the State Government, according to Ms. Yinka Fashola, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, where unemployed youths will be employed to earn a respectable income.

She gave attendees of the event the reassurance that the current administration, led by Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is aware of the high expectations Lagosians have, which is why it consistently invests in the skill development of youngsters and unemployed residents.

Fashola urged the recipients of the free POS distribution to take advantage of the chance to set sail for financial independence while stating that the Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment will keep coming up with initiatives and more effective programs to lower the number of unemployed youths in all areas of the State.

Team Lead at Stanbic IBTC Bank, Arinze Anigbogu, stated that the act is a component of the bank’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) and a means of addressing the problems caused by the global economic crisis.

Anigbogu thanked the State Government for the assistance and urged the recipients of the POS Machines to make the most of the chance since it would open up access to other small business-focused programs in the State.
