Announcement of Public Holiday
The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Monday, June 12, 2023, a public holiday to commemorate this year’s Democracy Day.
This decision was announced in a statement released in Abuja on Thursday.
Congratulations and Reflection
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Dr Oluwatoyin Akinlade, conveyed the government’s congratulations to all Nigerians on this significant occasion.
She acknowledged that Nigeria’s journey to democracy, much like that of many other nations, has encountered both challenges and victories.
Steadfastness of Democratic Governance
Dr Akinlade emphasized that despite the ups and downs, the ship of State, its institutions, and most importantly, the Nigerian people have remained resolute in upholding the principles of democratic governance.
