The family of Alexander Kareem, an innocent student who was fatally shot in a case of mistaken identity in west London, is determined to ensure that his killers are brought to justice.
On the third anniversary of his death, a reward of £20,000 has been offered.
Alexander, whose sister is a serving Metropolitan Police officer, was riding an e-scooter and carrying sweets and fizzy drinks as he returned home from a local shop in Shepherd’s Bush.
He was shot by someone believed to be inside a stolen white Range Rover, which had fake plates.
The car was later found burnt out three miles away, and 9mm ammunition was recovered from the scene, although the firearm itself was never found.
Arrests Made but No Further Action
Following the tragic incident, nine individuals, including a 16-year-old boy, were arrested in connection with the death of the 20-year-old student.
However, all of them have since been released and informed that they will face no further action.
This development has only deepened the pain felt by Alexander’s sister, PC Khafi Kareem, who grapples with the loss daily and questions whether enough is being done to apprehend the culprits.
Describing the impact of her brother’s death, PC Kareem explains that it has left an irreplaceable void in their lives.
The family remains resolute in their pursuit of justice, firmly believing that the killers will eventually be caught.
Pleas for Community Support and Information
Expressing their plea to the local community, PC Kareem urges individuals who may have knowledge of the killers’ identities to come forward.
She emphasizes that her brother was entirely innocent, with no affiliation to gangs or any criminal activities.
Alexander’s death, a result of a tragic mistake, has exposed the family to an unimaginable level of brutality.
Living in a London where such violence persists is unacceptable to PC Kareem, who has young children herself.
The incident has changed her perspective, causing her to worry constantly.
She calls on the community to reject this reality and seek justice for Alexander.
Brother’s Resolve and Unwavering Determination
Alexander’s older brother, Kabir Kareem, shares his sibling’s senseless loss and acknowledges the fear of potential reprisals from the criminals who took his brother’s life.
However, he firmly rejects the idea of leaving the neighborhood where they were raised, viewing it as a betrayal to Alexander’s memory.
Instead, Kabir insists on finding the perpetrators, even if they reside within their community.
The family seeks closure and justice for Alexander, who had promising aspirations, including attending university and becoming a successful computer builder.
