The family of George Floyd is contemplating a lawsuit against Kanye West after the rapper claimed Floyd was killed by a fentanyl overdose rather than police violence.
Lee Merritt, a civil rights activist and attorney, disclosed the potential lawsuit in a tweet on Sunday, stating that West’s comments concerning Floyd’s cause of death damaged the Floyd family and their battle.
West made the outrageous accusation during an appearance on the Drinks Champs podcast on Revolt TV. Later in the broadcast, he implied that Kris Jenner, 66, had sex with Drake, 33, and said that ‘Jewish media’ blocked his most recent interview.
In other portions of the conversation, West asserted that “Jewish people dominate the black voice” and that the “Jewish media” would cancel a host for stating “F**k Black Lives Matter.”
In recent weeks, 45-year-old Kanye West has been criticized for his odd conduct, including the introduction of a series of shirts bearing the slogan “White Lives Matter” and a number of remarks that have been generally considered as antisemitic.
West made this remark while praising Candace Owens’s documentary The Greatest Lie Ever Sold: George Floyd and the Rise of BLM.
Floyd was administered fentanyl. West stated that the man’s knee was not even on his neck in that position. They stated that he screamed for his mother; his mother was his lover. It is included in the documentary.
West went on to remark that Floyd’s passing reminded him of his ‘friend’ Virgil Abloh, the fashion designer who died at the age of 41 in November 2021 after a brief fight with cardiac angiosarcoma, a rare and severe cancer.
Dr. Andrew Baker, the chief medical examiner for Hennepin County, stated that police’subdual, constraint, and neck compression’ caused Floyd’s heart and lungs to cease.
He stated that heart disease and drug abuse were issues, but not “primary” causes.
Merritt came to Twitter after the show aired to speak on behalf of the Floyds.
‘While one cannot defame the deceased, the family of #GeorgeFloyd is exploring legal action for Kanye’s false remarks about the circumstances of his passing,’ he said.
Claiming Floyd died from fentanyl rather than the criminal and civilly documented cruelty undermines and minimizes the Floyd family’s fight.
In his Drinks Champs interview, West bellowed, ‘Could you even run this interview? Since Mav did not broadcast my interview. Do you realize what I’m saying? They prevented my access. The Jewish media excluded me. This is dope, right? Am I lit, right? I’m lit. I invested $140 million in JP Morgan, and they treated me like garbage. If JP Morgan Chase treats me in this manner, how do they treat the rest of you?’
This week, JP Morgan Chase terminated its partnership with West and gave him until November 21 to withdraw his cash. The bank has not provided specifics regarding the firing.
It was announced on Wednesday that West’s interview on The Shop will not air. The co-host of the event, Maverick Carter, stated in a statement that the show was canceled due to Kanye West’s use of “more hate speech and extremely harmful stereotypes.”
LeBron James, Carter’s normal co-host, was not present at the taping.
The rapper from Life of Pablo also said that his erstwhile competitor Drake was the “best rapper ever” and implied that his ex-mother, wife’s Kris Jenner, had sexual relations with Drake.
West stated, “Yeah, that was difficult, that was difficult… You are aware of its meaning. Corey is aware of its meaning. The Corey is Jenner’s longtime boyfriend Corey Gamble, whom West has previously described to as “godless.”
West also states throughout the interview, “Jewish people have appropriated the black speech.” Whether it be through us wearing a Ralph Lauren shirt, being signed to a record label, having a Jewish manager, being signed to a Jewish basketball team, or producing a film on a Jewish platform like Disney.
He continued, “I admire what the Jewish people have accomplished and how they have united their people.” You are aware that they gained wealth through their attorneys. After Wall Street, when all of the Catholics refused to grant divorces, the Jewish people came along, were willing to grant divorces, and this is when they became wealthy.
West stated that he and other black people are the “darker Jews” because they belong to one of Israel’s 12 lost tribes. “We are Jewish as well. We are also from Africa. We are the Christ’s blood. We’re not simply black,’ he continued.
The rapper stated that Ben Horowitz, a venture capitalist, had called him to complain that Jay-Z was revealing “Jewish business secrets.”
At one point during the interview, Noreaga criticized West for his White Lives Matter shirt.
The Queens-born rapper told West, “When you wear the White Lives Matter shirt, it takes away from everything black people have because it’s the same way you wore the Confederate flag, and we’re like, “Damn.”
He said, “And I know you.” I f*ck with you and your sibling. I love you. So I accept this; I’m a real scumbag. Daily, I am a true n***a on the streets. But I question why you would attempt to do so, even after you stated, “George Floyd, I can verify that no one was on his neck.” We could care less about that Ye.’
West responded, “However, we don’t care.” Noreaga interjected and added, “Allow me to continue.” We are black individuals. We are the Black Panthers. We f*ck the individuals you have to f*ck with. We f**ked with you when it was your turn to tell us to f**k with you. We intend to continue following you. We do.’
The host stated, “We are aware that White Lives Matter.” We are aware. But Black Lives Matter when we are being murdered each and every day. We must take note of that.’
Then it was West’s turn to speak, and he told the host, ‘Since then, however, the number of deaths has increased. We destroyed more property.’
Noreaga pleaded with West to inform them, “We’re really dead out here.” West stated that the T-shirt would not alter the situation.
When Noreaga declares, “F**k Black Lives Matter,” he is referring to the organization. West responds, “Don’t say that; the Jewish media will censor you.”
West infamously stated on the anti-Semitism allegations, ‘The funny thing is I can’t be anti-Semitic since black people are also Jews. You have messed with me and attempted to blackball opponents of your plan.’
