Expenses Over £2,000 raised for malnourished single mother hospitalized

A famished single mother’s faith in mankind has been restored when well-wishers contributed almost $2,000 in a matter of hours to help feed her children.

This week, 43-year-old Kelly Thomson disclosed that she was hospitalized twice for malnutrition after consuming one meal each day to guarantee that she could still afford to feed her two children.

She has just £40 a week to feed her family, and she believes she may have to turn to begging this winter due to inflation.

This morning, the 43-year-old from Slough, Berkshire, launched a GoFundMe campaign with a modest goal of £50.

And after only a few hours, the sum has already surpassed £2,000 and is rising rapidly, with Ms. Thomson stating that “a burden has been removed.”

People have left heartfelt notes of support for the struggling single mother of two, who stated that she was overwhelmed by the kindness.

In addition, she disclosed that one individual had offered to replace her children’s worn-out school uniforms, while another promised to provide her weekly groceries. The 42-year-old, from Slough, Berkshire, said rising food prices have made it near impossible for her to feed herself as well as her son, 14, and daughter, 11The mother-of-two revealed this week that she had been hospitalised twice with malnutrition after eating just one meal a dayMs Thomson (pictured with her 11-year-old daughter) said she has had a weight lifted knowing that she can afford food for a few weeks thanks to the donations

“A burden has been lifted from my shoulders now that I know we can afford food for at least a few weeks due to the gifts.

I could never have thought or dreamed that this would occur!’

Ms. Thomson, who has a 14-year-old son and an 11-year-old daughter, said she felt compelled to take her children’s birthday gifts to Cash Converters in order to purchase food.

Today, she stated, ‘I informed my kid he might be able to get his scooter from Cash Converters, and the pleasure on his face was priceless.

I appreciate everyone from the depths of my heart, on behalf of my children, and I wish I could personally thank everyone. I am really grateful.’

The Office for National Statistics disclosed on Wednesday that the UK inflation rate hit 10.1% in July, which was significantly higher than the 9.8% predicted by analysts.

It increased from 9.4% the previous month, mostly due to increases in gasoline and food prices.

It is the greatest level of inflation since February 1982, when the figure was predicted to be 10.4%.

The Slough, Berkshire resident, 42, stated that rising food prices had made it nearly difficult for her to feed herself and her 14-year-old son and 11-year-old daughter.

Despite the fact that Ms. Thomson’s universal credit covers her $1,300-per-month rent and a few other fees, she reports having only $160 per month left over for all other expenses.

This week, the single mother of two shared her experience with the media in an attempt to draw awareness on the severe inflation increases.

Since acquiring long-term disability in December 2020, when she was signed off from her work as a housekeeper, she has struggled to make ends meet.

Due to a lack of food, Ms. Thomson has dropped two stone and become “underweight,” according her physician.

Because she cannot afford fresh food, she has been hospitalized twice with starvation and had blood transfusions to refill her decreased iron levels.
