Ex-girlfriend turned in Capitol rioter for calling her a’moron’

The FBI was tipped off by the ex-girlfriend of a Capitol rioter who was sentenced to nine months in prison.
Richard Michetti must serve 24 months of probation and pay restitution of $2,000.
His ex-girlfriend informed authorities that he was a rioter because he referred to her as a “moron” for not believing in President Trump.
Something is being loaded.

The Justice Department said on Tuesday that the rioter whose ex-girlfriend ratted him out after he dubbed her a “moron” for not supporting former President Donald Trump was sentenced to nine months in jail.

Prosecutors stated that in addition to serving time in prison, Richard Michetti of Pennsylvania must serve 24 months on probation and pay $2,000 in restitution.

Michetti faced multiple charges, including entering a restricted building, violent entry, disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds, and obstruction of Congress, for his involvement in the Jan. 6 attack, in which pro-Trump supporters attempted to prevent Congress from certifying the 2020 presidential election.

In sentencing filings, prosecutors highlighted that Michetti was among the numerous Capitol protesters who mocked and abused officers. According to court documents, at one time he yelled at the cops, “We feed your family,” “You are just taking instructions,” and “We pay you.”

Prosecutors stated, “He gestured at the cops and at one instance briefly pinched the sleeve of one officer as they attempted to execute their legal job and prevent the crowd from entering farther inside the building.”

“Michetti circled the Rotunda until approximately 3:00 p.m. During this time, he shouted to commanders in the Rotunda, “You are launching a civil war!””

Earlier this year, according to the DOJ, Michetti pled guilty to “aiding and abetting obstruction of an official proceeding.”

Michetti was arrested and indicted for his role in the violence in February of this year.

Insider previously revealed that Michetti’s ex-girlfriend provided law enforcement with text messages and videos a day after the incident and identified him in photographs taken inside the Capitol building.

According to court documents, Richard Michetti texted his ex-girlfriend, “If you can’t see that the election was stolen, you’re an idiot.” “This is our nation; do you believe we live like kings because no one made a sacrifice?”

“The vote was fraudulent and Trump won, but they will not audit the ballots,” he continued.

As of September, at least 900 people have been charged in connection with the uprising, according to a database maintained by Insider.
