Guards stood by for more than a minute as a notorious former gang boss used a prison ‘shiv’ to repeatedly stab a human inside a cell at Australia’s most secure jail, too terrified to intervene.
Ex-Brothers 4 Life Blacktown chapter leader Farhad Qaumi, 39, is shown in shocking film grabbing a razor blade from his jeans pocket and slicing at triple murderer Abuzar Sultani, 33, who is still chained and unable to protect himself.
On Wednesday, May 20, 2020, Qaumi pleaded guilty to assault occasioning bodily injury for the attack at Goulburn Supermax in NSW that left Sultani bleeding from the face and neck.
The two underworld leaders had a terrible past together, with Qaumi serving 60 years in prison in 2017 for the execution murder of Joseph Antoun, a stand over man who Sultani regarded as a mentor.
Sultani and his ‘black-ops killing team,’ called ‘The Afghanis,’ shot and killed Calabrian crime family gangster Pasquale Barbaro, 35, a former ally of Qaumi and B4L, later that year.
Qaumi is shown pacing back and forth in a cell before Sultani enters and stands beside him in the image of the stabbing.
According to the Daily Telegraph, the two competing gangsters were forced to play chess in the same room.
Qaumi slashes Sultani and slams the door shut as soon as his handcuffs are unlocked.
Through the door, correctional guards can be seen observing as Qaumi insults Sultani by waving the makeshift blade over his face.
As guards enter the jail, Qaumi ultimately backs off, kneels, and places his hands on his head.
There have been serious questions raised about why the guards took so long to arrive.
‘I would much rather see cops return home to their families than rush into a scenario that puts their lives in jeopardy,’ said Corrections Minister Geoff Lee.
‘I always stand by police and will request that the matter be investigated by the Corrective Services Commissioner.’
On top of his already long sentence, Qaumi was given an additional 19 months.
For his role in the ‘violent underworld rampage’ that erupted in western Sydney in late 2013, he will be imprisoned until at least 2056.
The B4L gang broke in two and went to battle, pitting the predominantly Afghan Blacktown chapter against the majority Lebanese Bankstown clan, led by founder Mohammed Hamzy.
The judge stated that Qaumi was the “undisputed, and feared” head of the B4 Blacktown who, more often than not, employed others to carry out his orders.
He stated there was evidence he wanted to ‘take over Sydney.’
The judge stated, “One person was killed, numerous others were injured, and the lives of at least ten people were put in peril.”
Sultani 32, a murder-for-hire boss who studied accounting at Sydney’s Macquarie University during the day and oversaw a ‘black-ops death squad’ at night, will most certainly die in prison while serving three life sentences.
In 2021, he was found guilty of killing Barbaro, Rebels bikie Michael ‘Ruthless’ Davey, and drug dealer Mehmet Yilmaz.
