Omituntun Initiative in Diaspora (OID) is now taking submissions for its 2022 Seyi Makinde Annual Essay Competition from residents/natives of Oyo State enrolled in any recognized Nigerian university. The application submission date is November 20, 2022.

Omituntun Initiative in the Diaspora (OID) has announced the Seyi Makinde Annual Essay Competition 2022 with the objective of empowering and engaging youngsters in public discourse, specifically on the administration of the Seyi Makinde-led government.

Participants may submit only one of the following essays:

Enhancing openness, inclusivity, and accountability for a peaceful and sustainable development in Oyo State.

OR

Citizens’ active participation in governance processes will expand the boundaries of possibility for a safe, secure, and prosperous Oyo State.

OR

Reengineering the Oyo State energy system via the newly planned development and implementation of the Oyo State master gas plan: Expectations, Opportunities, and Benefits.

Prizes for the Seyi Makinde Essay Competition

The winning item will receive N200,000, second place will receive N150,000, and third place will receive N100,000. The top 20 candidates will be supported for vocational training in digital skills, and they will be recognized at an OID event.

Eligibility and Rules for the Seyi Makinde Essay Competition
Participants are restricted to writing on only one of the subjects.

Open to Oyo State residents/natives who are enrolled in any Nigerian institution recognized by the government and are between the ages of 18 and 35.

The essay must be written in Microsoft Word format in the English language.

Entries must be between 800 and 1000 words (bibliography and references are excluded from the word count).

Entries must be formatted in Times New Roman, size 12, with double spacing and numbered pages.
Any form of plagiarism will result in immediate disqualification.

Participants are required to present confirmation of student status and domicile.

Names and contact information should be included in all submissions.

Entrants must demonstrate originality and draw on examples from completed or ongoing infrastructure projects in Oyo State.

Points will be awarded for in-depth examination and comprehension of the issue, as well as for creativity, originality, research depth, and practical application.
How to Apply for the Seyi Makinde Essay Contest

Candidates who meet the aforementioned requirements may submit their applications via email to admin@omituntunindiaspora.org.

No submissions will be accepted after the given deadline date.

The deadline for submissions is November 20, 2022, at 11:59 p.m
