Endlovini five: Third Khayelitsha mass shooting suspect arrested with alleged murder weapon

The shooting on 14 March 2022 left four men and a woman dead. “At the time it was alleged that three gunmen had opened fire on the victims,” said police spokesperson Brigadier Novela Potelwa.

The third suspect, who is 28 years old, was arrested in Khayelitsha on Tuesday, 10 May, said police.

He was found in possession of a gun, which is believed to be the murder weapon for the five killings and faces an additional charge of illegal possession of a firearm alongside the murder charge.

As previously reported, the second suspect, 25, was arrested by Western Cape detectives and the Lady Frere SAPS on Sunday, 8 May. He was traced to a location in Lower Lufuta, Cala in the Eastern Cape.

“The two arrests bring the number of suspects arrested for the Endlovini multiple murders to three.

“The first arrest was effected on 11 April during a tracing operation that led investigators to a home in Khayelitsha. 34-year-old Madoda Zwayi appeared in court on 13 April 2022 facing murder charges,” said Potelwa.

The two men are expected in court on Wednesday while Zwayi is expected to make his next appearance on 20 April.
