ENDLOVINI SHOOTING SUSPECTS NAMED

Thembani Kobe and Sipho Mgijima are charged with five counts of murder. Four men and a woman were shot and killed in Endlovini, Khayelitsha on 14 March.

“Kobe is also charged with illegal possession of a firearm and illegal possession of ammunition which is linked to the mass murders,” said National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Eric Ntabazalila.

The accused told the court that they would not be applying for bail at this point. The State prosecutor, Advocate Madoda Peter, indicated that the State would oppose bail.

Kobe and Mgijima are charged under Schedule 6. The matter was postponed until Friday, 13 May when the pair is expected to join their co-accused Madoda Zwayi who was arrested on 11 April.

Mgijima was arrested by Western Cape detectives on Sunday, 8 May in Lower Lufuta, Cala in the Eastern Cape, while Kobe was nabbed in Khayelitsha on Tuesday.
