The second suspect in a stabbing spree in Saskatchewan, Canada, that resulted in 10 deaths and 15 injuries was arrested on Wednesday, according to local law officials.

“Myles Sanderson was located and taken into police custody near Rosthern, [Saskacthewan], at approximately 3:30 p.m. today,” the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said in a statement. “There is no longer a risk to public safety relating to this investigation.”

Sunday around 5:40 a.m., the Royal Canadian Mounted Police received the first report of a stabbing at the James Smith Cree Nation. Multiple victims were reported at 13 crime places, including in the adjacent village of Weldon, according to the police.

Damien Sanderson, 31, and Myles Sanderson, 30, were identified as the two suspects in the mass stabbing spree by police.

Damien Sanderson’s wounds did not seem to be self-inflicted, according to Regina Police Chief Evan Bray, who was quoted by the Associated Press.

Tuesday, residents in Saskatchewan, Canada were instructed to stay in place after police received reports of an active shooter. Myles Sanderson, who had been on the run, was located on the Native American reservation where the violence occurred.

The RCMP believes that some victims were chosen at random while others were premeditated. In addition, they issued a dangerous person notice urging the public to take cover.

There have been “ongoing, relentless efforts through the night by both the RCMP and the Regina Police Service to locate these two individuals.”

In a statement Sunday afternoon, Blackmore said law enforcement is asking residents across Saskatchewan and neighboring provinces to remain vigilant.

“I would like to ask them to turn themselves in to police,” she said.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau tweeted Sunday night that the attacks were “horrific and heartbreaking.”

“I’m thinking of those who have lost a loved one and of those who were injured,” he said.

Leaders of the James Smith Cree Nation issued a press statement declaring a state of emergency and announcing the opening of two emergency operation centres to assist community members.

Bray said that police are coming in detectives to oversee the search.

“We will not stop this investigation until we have those two safely in custody,” he added.

Bray said that he is “confident” that “someone out there” knows something about the two suspects, and he requested anybody with information to come forward and assist in finding a resolution.

“There’s a lot of grief, there’s a lot of anxiety in our province and in our communities all day today and yesterday,” Bray said.
