The report suggests that Musk has informed friends about his use of small amounts of the controlled substance to help with his mental health.

Ketamine, an anesthetic with hallucinogenic effects, is a controlled substance in the US, legally administered only by medical professionals.
However, the Wall Street Journal states that ketamine has gained popularity in recent years as a treatment for depression, with more individuals turning to the substance.

Although Musk did not directly respond to the report, he posted a tweet suggesting that occasional ketamine use might be a better alternative to antidepressants like SSRIs.
This tweet followed his previous controversy in 2018 when he smoked cannabis on the Joe Rogan podcast.
Musk has also mentioned that he and SpaceX employees faced regular drug tests after the incident.
Silicon Valley’s Interest in Microdosing
The Wall Street Journal mentions that several notable figures in Silicon Valley have explored microdosing substances like ketamine and LSD, claiming benefits such as enhanced creativity.
Apple founder Steve Jobs openly discussed his use of LSD, while Justin Zhu, co-founder of marketing start-up Iterable, was allegedly dismissed as CEO in 2021 for microdosing LSD at work.
