The Scottish radio and television hostess stated that she was “stunned” by recent events.

In 2009, the 48-year-old moved to the weekend breakfast program; in 2012, he hosted The Review Show; and in 2014, he left “on a strong note.”

She currently hosts a weekend morning program on BBC 6 Music as well as her own podcast.

Edith Bowman stated she was left’speechless’ and ‘very let down’ by Radio 1 executives as she was ‘pushed out’ of the station before to her 2014 dismissal.

The Scottish radio DJ and television personality stated that the decision to relocate her to a quieter time slot in 2009 “totally stunned” her.

Since then, she has hosted a weekend morning program on BBC 6 Music, her own podcast, and, most recently, the BAFTAS in 2017.

In an interview with Psychologies magazine, the 48-year-old stated that in July 2009, her weekday afternoon slot was changed to the more calmer weekend breakfast show.

She has held the position for five years.

She stated, “Lies and deception are extremely strong terms, but the conversations I was having with my supervisor at the time concerning my future were very different from what I was told in the meeting.

“The talk was the exact reverse of what I anticipated, and it stunned me.” I felt quite disheartened because I had given everything I had.

“At the time, I was speechless and saddened by it. I would absolutely be more forthright about how I felt I had been treated by the people in the room and the lies I had been told if it happened again.

The mother of two was then replaced on the weekend morning program in 2012 and moved to The Review Show on Tuesday nights.

She said, “I would inquire what had changed from our previous chats.”

“I was aware that Radio 1 was edging me out, but The Review Show was one of the most enjoyable experiences I had during my time there.”

“I believe they spotted something they could provide me as a demotion that I was genuinely seeking.” Consequently, I departed [in 2014] on a high note.’

As stated at the time, Edith was one of a series of departures announced in June 2014 in order for Radio 1 and 1Xtra to meet some of the cost-cutting requirements imposed by the BBC’s Licence Fee settlement.

Last year, the Scottish radio DJ and television broadcaster hosted the BAFTAS.
