Eclipse Cross GLS Exceed: Innovative driver aid and safety features

OHANNESBURG: As anticipation builds for 2023 and as part of Mitsubishi’s ongoing product drive, the Eclipse Cross GLS Exceed has been introduced to the lineup.

The Eclipse Cross GLS Exceed will serve as the range’s flagship model and will feature many model-year-specific improvements and aesthetic refinements. Mitsubishi recognizes that our customers have a desire to explore, and we strive to provide them with vehicles that enable them to do so as effectively as possible.

The top-of-the-line Eclipse Cross GLS Exceed features model-year-specific enhancements and additional features.

Jeffrey Allison, General Manager: Marketing at Mitsubishi Motors South Africa, explains, “We strive to always offer our customers products that are contemporary and speak to their needs, and the Eclipse Cross GLS Exceed enhancements aim to do just that” (MMSA).

The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross continues to stand out in the congested SUV market thanks to its sporty, fashionable appearance that culminates in sculpted character lines. The general design concept combines the dynamic silhouette of a coupé with the roominess and utility of an SUV. The front face of the dynamic shield is flanked by two circular headlamps that contribute to its high-tech appearance.

At the rear, a sculpted hexagonal design incorporates a single piece of glass, and the taillights showcase a novel Y-shaped design in three dimensions. The external design incorporates the most recent model year enhancements, such as color-coded bumpers and heated door mirrors.

The Eclipse Cross continues to be available with two engine options. This comprises a 2.0-liter MIVEC DOHC 16-valve four-cylinder engine with 110kW at 6000rpm and 198Nm at 4200rpm.

The top-of-the-line Eclipse Cross GLS Exceed is equipped with the latest 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine from Mitsubishi, which utilizes turbocharging to produce 110kW at 5 500rpm and 250Nm at 3 500rpm while remaining exceptionally fuel efficient.

This mix of performance and fuel economy is largely because to Mitsubishi’s eight-speed INVECS-III CVT, which features a sports mode, gives seamless acceleration, and guarantees that the engine is always capable of delivering optimal performance.

The RISE (Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution) Body Construction, a total of seven airbags, and Side-Impact Protection Bars ensure a high level of safety.

Isofix Child Seat anchors, ABS with EBD, AYC (Active Yaw Control), Brake Assist System, Hill Start Assist System, Active Stability, and Traction Control are included as standard equipment.

Electric Parking Brake, Electronic Power Steering, Anti-Theft Protection Device, Keyless Operating System, and Rear View Camera are convenience features that also add to overall passenger safety. Blind Spot warning has also been added as of 2023.

Mitsubishi Motors Intuitive Technology (MiTEC) is an integrated system of revolutionary technology designed to guide, protect, alert, connect, and entertain. It includes the Head Up Display, which displays important information in the driver’s line of sight.

The Eclipse Cross GLS Exceed now has Mitsubishi’s innovative Ultrasonic Misacceleration Mitigation System as part of MiTEC. This intelligent technology decreases the likelihood and severity of impacting obstacles 4 metres in front of or behind the vehicle if the driver accidentally presses the accelerator when the vehicle is stationary or traveling below 10 km/h.

In addition, the GLS Exceed comes standard with a panoramic tilt-and-slide sunroof that features a UV-protective coating, LED illumination with adjustable brightness, and an electrically operated cover that can be opened and closed at the touch of a button.

Allison says, “We believe that the Eclipse Cross continues to offer a great combination of a sleek, sporty design and SUV capabilities, and the latest round of refinements go a long way toward solidifying its position as a vehicle that perfectly embodies what the Mitsubishi brand stands for.”

The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is sold with a three-year/100,000-kilometer manufacturer’s warranty, a five-year roadside assistance package with unlimited mileage, and a five-year/90,000-kilometer service plan.
