Durban police are looking for the killers of a suspected e-hailing driver

Police in KwaMashu, KwaZulu-Natal, have cast a broad net in pursuit of the killers of a man suspected to be an e-hailing driver.

Tuesday, a 44-year-old man was allegedly shot and killed by two unidentified individuals.

Lieutenant-Colonel Nqobile Gwala said that paramedic crews and emergency response agencies responded to the crime site in the northern Durban suburb of Avoca.

They discovered the deceased in the rear seat of a crashed Renault automobile.

“Upon closer inspection, the police determined that the man had been shot, and paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene,” Gwala stated.

“According to reports from the location, the man was an e-hailing driver who was shot at in an attempted hijacking by unidentified criminals before wrecking his vehicle.

The victim was apparently transporting a passenger when he was shot by two unidentified suspects on Duffs Road. Apparently, they [the deceased and the passenger] were also robbed of their possessions.”
