The four-day double demerit period will begin on Friday, September 30, and end on Monday, October 3, both days included.
Drivers who are discovered using their phones while operating a vehicle will be fined $457 and given 10 penalty points.
A driver will get six penalty points for failing to buckle up, and 12 points if two of their passengers fail to buckle up as well.

When a public holiday falls on a Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday, double demerit periods are automatically applied to the weekends.
