Despite being a pathological liar, Santos intends to run for office next year

Disgraced Island Long Rep. George Santos is apparently determined to compete for reelection in 2024, despite the fact that angry locals once more protested outside his district office on Wednesday calling for his resignation as a result of his lies.

Richie Torres, a fellow representative from New York, verified allegations that “Santos is telling advisors that he desires to serve a second term, despite previously swearing that he wouldn’t run for reelection.”

Do you believe George Santos has any business serving in the legislature for even one term, much less two?

Torres also provided a link to a CNN report in which a number of Republican sources claimed that Santos intended to fight on and run for re-election despite being charged with a crime related to his campaign financing.

Santos, 34, appeared to indicate as much in a tweet on Tuesday, reversing his prior position in which he claimed he would quit if enough of his supporters demanded it.

Let me be absolutely clear: I’m not going anywhere, hiding, or giving up, he wrote.

“I will keep working for #NY03, and no amount of trolling on Twitter will deter me. I can’t wait to finish what needs to be finished!

Several incensed citizens with the banner “Concerned Citizens of NY-03” marched on his office on Wednesday to deliver a petition asking him to step down.

The demonstrators approached George Santos’ district office in Douglaston while carrying a large banner that said, “George Santos lied to us,” and shouting, “Hey hey, ho ho, Santos has got to go.”

Santos, whose office still bears the name of his Democratic predecessor Tom Suozzi on the awning, declined to speak with them in person outside.

Later on Wednesday, Jody Kass, the group’s organizer, told CBS News New York, “We need him gone.

“We wanted to make sure that he understood that we were not abandoning him, and we wanted to prevent any acceptance of this imposter’s status as a congressman.”

Kass pointed out that Santos had previously declined to address the group of constituents when about 50 of them traveled almost 10 hours one way to protest at his office in the Capitol.

She declared indignantly that “George Santos is a thief” and that “he has lied his way into a job that now pays him $174,000.”

Throughout several investigations into his money and lies, Santos is adamant that he will be exonerated of all wrongdoing, according to CNN.

He has consistently denied the growing list of fabrications, arguing that such behavior is common in politics and that he has “lived an honest life.”

Kass told CBS that although “he appears to have forgiven himself,” “the constituents do not forgive him and we will never forgive him. Nobody believes in him.

According to CNN, “the longer [Santos] is in there, the worse this is for Republicans on Long Island,” said former Long Island representative Peter King.

King told the network that Santos “has to go as quickly as possible for the benefit of the country and for the Republican Party” and noted that it’s unlikely Santos will “go on his own.”

After such a scandalous 2024, King does not assess his chances.

He predicted that if he tried running again, he would be destroyed.
