Democrats, according to Tucker Carlson, want to tighten limitations on who can possess weapons because they are afraid the public would ‘rise up’ against them.
The Fox News anchor, who is a staunch supporter of the Second Amendment, claimed that the proposed gun control measures in the aftermath of last week’s Uvalde school shooting, as well as the 17 major shootings since then, were nothing more than a ploy to subjugate the populace.
On Wednesday night, he said that Democrats were just concerned with power and not with saving lives.
‘If any of the people in charge wanted this to be a safer country, they wouldn’t have caused the current crime wave in the first place,’ Carlson told his viewers.
‘They would not have defunded police. They wouldn’t be encouraging open-air drug markets in our cities. They wouldn’t be sending crack pipes to addicts.
‘But they’re not worried about the public health at all. What they’re worried about is public resistance to their policies. Disarming the population ends that resistance.’
Carlson claimed that political leaders were embracing gun control to enforce a dictatorship, naming Canada, China, and Cuba as examples.
‘They’re very concerned because they know they rule illegitimately that the population will rise up,’ he said.
‘That probably has not occurred to you. It’s definitely occurred to them, and it’s occurred to the corporate media they control, whose job it is to push their power grabs, and they would very much like a Canada/China-style gun ban in this country. Watch them salivate.’
