The Western Cape Provincial Extortion Task Team detained a Cape Town woman on drug trafficking charges on January 9 after receiving information about a shipment of cocaine bound for Voorbrug Prison.

As previously reported, police raided a residence on Bevan Street in Greenhaven, Manenberg, and discovered 395 mandrax tablets, 10 kg of cannabis, five grams of cocaine, 10 telephones with batteries, and 35 SIM cards.

A lady from Cape Town was apprehended when narcotics and cell phones bound for prison were seized.

Along with Donat Tsache Mukundama and Leroy Adams, the Department of Correctional Services (DCS) official Lungelwa Manstinga and her daughter Thandolwam Mantahibga are set to appear in the Athlone Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Eric Ntabazalila, a spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in the Western Cape, stated that the defendants are suspected of drug selling.

“The accused was arrested with drugs worth R1.2 million.” During a raid on the residence of one of the accused, police seized more than R17,000 in cash. Their case has been adjourned till today for bail information,” Ntabazalili added.
