After Liverpool’s defeat to Manchester United in the Premier League, Jude Bellingham was on many supporters’ lips.
Days after manager Jurgen Klopp said he’d want to add another midfielder to his team, the Reds were defeated 2-1 by their rivals.
Man United defeated Liverpool at Old Trafford, where they have not yet picked up a victory this year.
Jude Bellingham has been a longtime transfer target for Jurgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool.
Both Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have one year left on their contracts, and the latter is said to be contemplating leaving the club.
Since Liverpool is yet to win this season due to injury woes, Klopp is unlikely to approve Keita’s transfer to another club.
He said, “Of course not, that’s not conceivable. But it wasn’t the plan. We don’t believe a player can go and not be replaced because we are stupid. Not at all; not a chance. Naby won’t go, but if he did – which he won’t – someone else would need to step in, of course.
The manager, however, refused to be drawn on possibilities like Bellingham, who has been a longtime goal of Liverpool, and instead said that a number of criteria would be taken into consideration before any prospective signing.
We are now dealing with more injuries than we could have ever anticipated, and although it would be wonderful to bring in a new midfielder, the scenario is always shifting. You don’t have to do that, and there’s another reality to consider: I, or we, are not in command of how much money we have to spend.
“That is the circumstance, and we are informed before dealing with it. The situation remained constant and never changed.
While coping with a lengthy injury list, Jurgen Klopp acknowledges that he would love to sign a new midfielder.
Good players are often associated with the club, which is typical, he said.
Bellingham is young and a pretty talented player, but he didn’t show up, so I heard about him. It is typical. It is expected that a large club like Liverpool will continue to compete against the best by adding fresh players.
When asked what the fight for spots would imply to him, the 28-year-old had no opinion on who may or might not go.
Brazilian star Fabinho of Liverpool was complimentary of Jude Bellingham of Dortmund.
“It is expected that they will add new players, and certain players’ names have already been associated with the team. But I’m not bothered by it. I feel quite confident. I am genuinely content here, so it is natural if Liverpool purchases a new number six, and I will contend for both the team and the position.
“I believe the midfield is the position where we have more choices [than any other position on the squad],” he stated.
We still have a lot of choices even if I believe two or three of our midfield players are injured right now. Although I don’t think I’m qualified to tell whether or not we need more players, I do believe that this industry already has a lot of excellent players.
