Day 2: The 500-mile journey of the Queen’s coffin from Balmoral Castle to Buckingham Palace starts.


Today marks the start of the Queen’s 500-mile trip from her favorite Balmoral Castle to Buckingham Palace.

The procession of Her Majesty to Edinburgh, which will serve as the nation’s first significant focal point in sorrow, is anticipated to draw tens of thousands of mourners.

The Queen will spend the night at the Palace of Holyroodhouse before spending 24 hours in repose at St. Giles’ Cathedral. On Tuesday, her body will be flown to London before being transported by car to Buckingham Palace.
