Connecticut street shootout kills officers

In a gunfight in Connecticut late Friday night, two police officers were killed and another suffered critical injuries.

According to Connecticut state police, the incident occurred on Redstone Hill Road in Bristol and drew many law enforcement agencies to the location amid rumors of an officer-involved gunshot.

Unknown is the officer’s current state after first surviving the shooting.

One person reported hearing two rounds of a dozen gunshots to NBC Connecticut, while another expressed anxiety since Bristol is known for being a safe neighborhood.

Ted Krawiec said, “It sounded like “bang, bang, bang, bang” — at least like a round of 12 followed by a 30-second pause before another round.”

He said, “Especially Bristol is, I mean, a nice town and it’s unsettling to hear anything like this happening here. All we heard was sirens and then we saw the helicopter hovering about from Page Park.

“We are currently working hard to get precise information from our investigators and everyone involved,” said the spokesperson. When we can, we will have a news conference. Once again, we ask for your patience as the situation is still highly fluid and dynamic.

Local television station WFSB stated that the injured policemen had been taken to Bristol Health, but a second update from Connecticut state police posted on Twitter indicated that two of the officers had passed away as a consequence of their injuries.

According to state police, “We ask that your prayers and thoughts be with the families, the officer, and all those touched.”
