City of EThekwini warns communities against throwing stones at buses

The city’s transportation authority cautions residents about the dangers of hurling stones at buses and the dangers of riding on the back bumper of a moving bus.

In regions such as uMlazi and Ntuzuma, Durban Transport has been confronted with this risky behavior by young individuals, including school students.

About 82 buses had their windows shattered in the last six months as a result of stone-throwing.

Damage to municipal property is a criminal offense that may result in legal action.

The city is urging parents and the general public to help stop this harmful behavior.

The public can report any incidents they witness to the police or to the uMlazi Depot on 031 906 2651, the Ntuzuma Depot on 031504 3421, or eThekwini Transport Authority on 082 268 4185.
