As the bomb squad is called in due to a “suspicious item” discovered at the site, two individuals have been slain at a Jehovah’s Witness facility in Thornton, Colorado.
As emergency services rushed to the ‘homicide,’ witnesses said they witnessed a suspect toss a Molotov cocktail into the building.
The neighborhood is not under “known danger,” according to Thornton Police, who are also speaking with witnesses.
According to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, they have been called to the 951 Milky Way Jehovah’s Witness congregation after a gunshot.
There is “no current danger,” the Thornton Police Department tweeted after confirming that they are responding to a “homicide” at the property.
They stated: “Witnesses are still being questioned, and the scene is still being scrutinized.
‘The Hazardous Materials Unit is assessing a suspicious gadget recovered at the site.
At the site, two adults are found deceased. There are still no reported threats to the community of Thornton.
Along with the Adams County Sheriff’s department’s Hazardous Materials Unit, a bomb squad vehicle was also visible at the site.
They said that there was a “strong police presence” at the location but did not provide any additional information.
The Denver Post was informed by resident Luis Sanchez that he heard gunfire on Sunday morning.
He claimed to have glanced outside and saw a lady sprawled down on the ground, adding, “It’s extremely sad.” ‘Christmas is here.
The Adams County Fire Department described the event as “domestic,” but they offered no more details.
When the Thornton Fire Department arrived to Kingdom Hall to react to a structural fire but could not discover a fire, they turned the case up to the police.
The Jehovah Witnesses in the area have weekly meetings on Sundays at 9:30 a.m.
