The singer-songwriter husband of American Idol star Kellie Pickler has shot himself to death at their home in Nashville, a day after celebrating a musical achievement on Instagram.
On Friday, the 49-year-old Kyle Jacobs was discovered inside a locked upstairs bedroom and office. His wife of 12 years was at home and contacted 911 when she was unable to locate him.
The day before his death, he was celebrating the platinum certification of the album Hey World by Lee Brice, on which he had collaborated.
In addition to playing acoustic guitar and providing backing vocals, Jacobs produced the album.
He wrote in his final Instagram picture, ‘Platinum?! SWEEEET!!! This was put together by a remarkable group of highly gifted individuals… I am deeply honored to have contributed to its creation… Thank you Jesus!!!’
Jacobs took his own life at a time when he appeared to have everything going for him.
This month he also wrote about a new business venture: the SingerSongwriterMusician app.

His friends and followers were also full of suggestions for him.
David Allen responded to his platinum post on the day he died, writing, “Congratulations, my brother!” In approximately two to three weeks, large bass will spawn in my lake. Get your belongings and let’s load up the truck.
A fan commented on his article, “Hey, have you ever considered writing a Christian song? Your faith and words of experience over the years detailing what he has blessed you with, such as Kellie and your love story, would make a fantastic book.’
Another said, “He died today.”
Friday, 1.21 p.m. local time, the police responded to the call.
Police and Nashville Fire Department officials responded and discovered homeowner Kyle Jacobs, 49, dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in an upstairs bedroom/office, according to a statement released by the Nashville police department.
His death is currently being examined as a possible suicide.
Don Aaron, a spokesman, stated that everyone else in the house was safe.
In 2006, Pickler, age 36, rose to stardom as a contestant on the fifth season of American Idol, finishing in sixth place. As a recording artist, she signed with 19 Recordings and BNA Records in 2006.
Don’t You Know You’re Gorgeous and Best Days of Your Life were co-written by her and Taylor Swift.
On January 1, 2011, she wedded Jacobs.
Since May 2021, Jacobs held an Alaska hunting and fishing license registered to his property.
Don Aaron, a spokesman for the police, stated, “We are investigating an apparent suicide at a residence on Sneed road.”
He stated to DailyMail.com, “The call arrived at 1.21 p.m.”
‘Sneed Road is located inside the West precinct of our police department, so West Precinct officers and the Nashville Fire Department responded to the original report.
A detective team has reacted since then.
The alleged suicide victim is an adult male.
The Nashville Police Department official noted that the Medical Examiner’s Office subsequently responded to the scene, as is customary for fatal cases.
According to a Zillow listing, the home on Sneed Road in a Nashville suburb south of the city center features four bedrooms and one and a half bathrooms.
It was last purchased for $1.4 million in 2010 and is currently believed to be worth $2.4 million.
Julie Boos, owner of the Tennessee music management company FBMM and Pickler’s manager, made the acquisition.
