Amanda Gommo, 51, was hospitalized for three days after her chihuahua, Belle, had a “small accident” on her face, including in her mouth, leading her to feel violently unwell and necessitating medical care.

Ms. Gommo, from Bristol, stated that she was hugging the dog while napping in the afternoon when it became unwell with “violent diarrhoea,” with some of the faeces spilling into her mouth.

Since then, Belle has been forgiven for her error, and Ms. Gommo has stated that she will “certainly be more attentive of our sleeping posture in the future.”

Amanda Gommo was hospitalized after the dog belonging to her daughter defecated on her face as she slept.

Following the incident, Ms. Gommo hurried to the bathroom to vomit, but was later admitted to the hospital after contracting a stomach infection from Belle.

She remarked, “I hurried to the bathroom, and my kid was in the shower, so I had time to snap a picture before I washed it out!”

“It was revolting, and I threw up violently for hours thereafter; I could not get the taste out of my mouth.”

Belle was taken to the veterinarian and given medicines for a “severe stomach bug.”

Ms. Gommo began exhibiting symptoms identical to Belle’s later that day and called 111, who despatched an ambulance to her residence.

Ms. Gommo stated that she loves Belle with all her heart despite the incident that landed her in the ICU.

The paramedics gave medications for her stomach problems and told her to consume large quantities of water to flush out any possible infection.

After their visit, her symptoms worsened, and 48 hours later, the cramps had spread over her entire body.

Ms. Gommo’s mother then dialed 999, who dispatched a second ambulance and admitted her to Bristol Royal Infirmary, where she was placed on a drip immediately.

Doctors there diagnosed her with a stomach infection that had been transmitted to her mouth by Belle’s feces days before.

She was observed for three days while electrolytes and glucose were administered to restore her hydration.

Ms. Gommo, who also suffers from Crohn’s disease, stated, ‘From the moment I became ill until I was placed on the drip, I was unable to consume anything.

“The cramps worsened until I could feel them throughout my entire body, including my legs.”

The second time they dispatched an ambulance, I was so dehydrated from vomiting and diarrhoea that my kidneys had shrunk to half their size.

I was hospitalized for three days while the infection was drained through a drip.

“According to my discharge statement, I had a gastrointestinal infection caused by a dog defecating in my mouth, which doctors had never seen before.

Since the incident, I’ve been consuming two Lucozades every day, along with copious amounts of tea and water. I’m delighted to report that both myself and Belle are on the mend.

“I’ve forgiven Belle for her little mishap, and I still love her with all my heart, but in the future, I’ll surely be more cautious about how we sleep!”
