Chelsea fan wanted for racist gesture toward Tottenham’s Son Hueng-Min

A Chelsea supporter is said to have made a racial gesture toward the opponent’s striker Son-Heung-min.

Chelsea is investigating allegations of racist insults aimed at Tottenham’s Son during their 2-2 draw on Sunday.

The South Korean forward began the London derby and played for 79 minutes before Yves Bissouma replaced him.
It is thought that the incident occurred in the second half when Son took a corner kick at the Shed End.

A football fan’s Twitter post appears to show a man pinching up the corners of his eyes in a racist slur against Son’s Korean heritage. Son has already been the target of racist harassment in England.

A West Ham supporter was punished in 2019 for racially assaulting him during a Carabao Cup match.

Two years later, Manchester United suspended three season ticket holders for online racial insults directed against Son.

On the field, the encounter at Stamford Bridge was a riveting affair, with Chelsea taking the lead twice through Kalidou Koulibaly and Reece James, only to be pegged back by Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Harry Kane.

Several controversial moments occurred throughout the match, with Blues manager Thomas Tuchel saying that neither Spurs goal should have stood due to incidents leading up to both.

Tuchel and Antonio Conte engaged in many touchline altercations, and both managers have now been charged for their acts.

The German coach could find himself in more trouble in the near future after being especially critical of referee Anthony Taylor’s performance after the final whistle and questioned whether he should continue officiating Chelsea games.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police stated, “A guy has been identified following an incident during the Chelsea vs. Tottenham match at Stamford Bridge on August 14.”

“The individual reported to a police station in south London on Wednesday, August 17.” Police advised him they will contact him as part of this investigation, but he was not detained at this time. Enquiries continue.’
