Spurs calls Son Heung-racist min’s abuse “utterly reprehensible.”

Son Heung-min was the target of “utterly abhorrent” racial slurs, according to Tottenham.

Spurs also urged social media firms to intervene after Son was harassed online after scoring in Sunday’s 2-0 Premier League victory against West Ham (February 19). They acknowledged that the assault had been reported in a tweet.

Their press department wrote: “The club has informed us of the completely abhorrent racial remarks made towards Heung-Min Son during today’s game on the internet. We support Sonny and once again urge authorities and social media firms to take appropriate legal action.”

Tottenham’s message received a response from the Football Association endorsing their position. An FA tweet said, “We strongly condemn the racial remarks made towards Son Heung-min this evening.

This is not appropriate for our game, and we completely support the government’s and social media companies’ efforts to combat it.

Ivan Toney, a striker for Brentford, was recently the target of hatred on Instagram when a VAR blunder led to the wrong standing of his equalizer against Arsenal.

And when he received similar abuse in October of last year, social media behemoth Meta condemned the remarks but stated it was unable to do anything about it since the message had not been reported inside the app.

After a police investigation, Antonio Neill, 24, of Blyth, Northumberland, accepted a charge of sending Toney an insulting communication in January before Newcastle Magistrates’ Court.

Kick It Out, an anti-racism organization, called for “serious changes” earlier this month since history keeps repeating itself. A group of 12 males who had harassed Son on Twitter in June of last year received “community resolutions” and apologized in writing to the South Korean superstar.
