‘Catch Me a Killer’ TV adaption debuts in 2023

In a television adaption of Micki Pistorius’s true-crime book “Catch Me a Killer”, “Game of Thrones” actress Charlotte Hope will represent the South African serial killer profiler.

The series will bear the same name and will debut in January 2023. The “Legacy” actor Vaughn Lucas, the stage and movie actor Gavin Werner, and the multitalented Chris van Rensburg will also appear in several episodes.

The series is set in the mid-1990s and follows Pistorius’ mission as a newly qualified forensic psychologist to track down South Africa’s most dreaded criminals during an epidemic of growing crime and mass murder.

The serial-killer profiler-turned-author of six books, including “Fatal Females: Women Who Kill” and “Strangers on the Street”, states on her website that in order to grasp the psyche of a serial killer, the profiler must “risk to venture into the abyss” after gaining life experiences.

“A person whose life has been preserved will not live… As omnipotence, serial killers perceive their control over life and death.

“Because they have little control over their own lives and emotions, they get addicted to the sensation of omnipotence that control over another’s life provides.

Therefore, they will repeatedly kill. It corrects the mental imbalance people experience anytime their self-esteem is questioned… When I interview a serial killer, I go deep into his soul’s darkness.

“I am acquainted with his sentiments of emptiness, solitude, melancholy, death, powerlessness, and terror. She wrote, “I delve deeply to comprehend his suffering.”

Hope, known for her roles in “Game of Thrones” and “The Nun,” will star in the 10-episode series, which has been filming in Cape Town for the past eight weeks.

She used Instagram to announce the news.

She wrote, “Having the best time working on this with the best people.”

Grant Ross, who portrays Jannie on the show, remarked, “Likewise. What an honor it is to play make-believe with Catherine! I hope you are focused, entertaining, and grounded.

“All the ingredients for an extraordinary actor and unique individual. I’ve learned so much simply by observing your procedure. Thank you. It has been an incredible vibe.”

The new true-crime series, which is being produced by Night Train Media and M-Net/Showmax, will premiere in 2023.
