Buxton crash: victim’s father doesn’t blame survivor

The father of a young girl who died in a horrific vehicle accident along with four of her friends said he has no grudges towards the driver.

The Nissan Navara truck, driven by Tyrell Edwards, 18, went off the road and crashed into a tree on Tuesday night in Buxton, close to Picton, southwest of Sydney.

The five passengers, who were all between the ages of 14 and 16, were Antonio Desisto, Tyrese Bechard, Summer Williams, Lily Van De Putte, and Gabby McLennan. Mr. Edwards was the only survivor.

Following the news of the deadly accident that shook the little hamlet, Lily’s father spoke out on Wednesday.

John Van de Putte told the ABC, “We don’t carry any grudges towards the driver since he is going to go through hell.”

Mr. Edwards, a recent Picton High School graduate, was detained for necessary blood and urine tests but is not currently in custody of the police. When he was breathalysed on the spot, the results were negative.

As of Wednesday morning, he was being treated for non-life-threatening injuries at a hospital in Liverpool. No accusations have been made.

Preliminary investigations, according to Detective Acting Inspector Jason Hogan, indicate that speed may have played a role in the collision.

The inspector remarked, “We urge to individuals to conduct their driving in compliance with the norms and regulations.”

The obvious conclusion is that it is unsafe to transport six passengers in a four-seater car.

Buxton has been rocked by the horrific disaster as the grieving townsfolk try to comprehend the tragedy.

Elly Mount, a year 9 student, shed tears as she recalled the five adolescents who died and shared how she nearly went on the tragic trip with them.

Elly stated after she and her mother, Amy Cook, laid flowers at the accident scene, “They wanted me to hang out with them.”

Elly, who was visibly overcome with emotion, said that she had a special bond with the two sisters who were great soccer players at their school.

“(One of my pals) was a great goalkeeper. My mother took care of everything and drove me to games.

I don’t believe it to be genuine. I can’t handle it.

“Which of their parents is going to step up and grab their soccer medals?”

Elly said that all of the individuals—including the two boys—with whom she nearly went out driving were in Year 9 or 10.

It was “one of the worst accident scenes,” according to Camden Police Superintendent Paul Fuller, who has served the department for 38 years.

Names and pictures of the five teens who died in a ute crash into a tree in south-west Sydney have been released, along with sincere condolences from grieving family members.

All of the victims, aged between 14 and 16, were Antonio Desisto, Tyrese Bechard, Summer Williams, Lily Van De Putte, and Gabby McLennan. They perished soon after 8 p.m. on Tuesday near Buxton, 100 km southwest of the city, when a Nissan Navara pickup swerved off the road.

Tyrell Edwards, the driver, was injured but not seriously, and was transferred to Liverpool Hospital.

Although he was detained for the required blood and urine tests, the police do not have control of him.

In light of the fact that the driver is “going through hell,” Miss Van de Putte’s father, John, told the ABC that he “doesn’t hold any grudges” against him.
