Buster Murdaugh, the last surviving son of Alex Murdaugh, who was recently sentenced to life in prison for killing his wife and son, has been reported to have a wilder side that he displayed a couple of months after the tragedy.
An anonymous source revealed that Buster, Alex, his brother Randy Murdaugh IV, and some members of the PMPED law firm were present at the South Carolina Association for Justice convention in Hilton Head in August 2021, where they got very drunk.
The source explained that some of them had to leave and go upstairs to avoid getting involved in a brawl under a pile of Murdaughs. Additionally, Buster was photographed with his uncle at a gambling table in Las Vegas in October 2021.
He later complained to his father in a jailhouse call that his picture had been taken, and Alex advised him to start wearing a hat in public.
Buster, whose full name is Richard Alexander Murdaugh Jr., lives with his lawyer girlfriend, Brooklynn White, in a $180,000 condo that she owns in Hilton Head. He was studying law at the University of South Carolina Law School, his father’s alma mater, until he was expelled. The expulsion was allegedly due to a plagiarism incident.
Alex Murdaugh was found guilty of murdering his wife, Maggie, and his 22-year-old son, Paul, at their dog kennels at Moselle, their country lodge, on June 7, 2021.
Buster’s future is uncertain, and many people in Hampton County, where the Murdaughs are from, believe that he may know something about the 2015 death of Stephen Smith.
Stephen’s body was discovered on a rural road in Hampton County, close to the Murdaugh hunting lodge, where Maggie and Paul were killed.
Although his death was initially ruled a hit-and-run accident, both Smith and former Highway Patrol investigator Todd Proctor, who oversaw the Smith case, believe he was murdered. His mother, Sandy Smith, saw photos of his partially crushed skull with a hole in his forehead and a dislocated shoulder.
Smith has been vocal about her suspicion that the Murdaugh family, including Buster, might have had something to do with Stephen’s death.
