A young boxer died during a family vacation days before his 15th birthday.
Jack Pollock, from Edinburgh, died unexpectedly in Portugal on Thursday, while on vacation with his mother and brother.
The child was characterized as “brimming with ideas and mischief” by his boxing club in Granton, while his father, Darryl, praised him as a “ferocious guardian.”

He stated, “Shattered in every way. I am present with you and I wish you were sitting next to me.
“Things will never be the same again; we never expected this to occur while on vacation.”
“We need him to be a place of peace and refuge. We will bring you home whatever.
Darryl also discussed his son’s boxing ability and referred to him as a “rock” for his pals.
He told Edinburgh Live: ‘He was incredibly enthusiastic about boxing. Even on his days off, Jack would go for a run and always give it his all, never slacking.
“If I had to say one thing about Jack, it would be that he was a protector. All of his friends turned to him in times of difficulty because he was their rock.
If you ever required assistance, he would be the first to leave his home and come to your aid.
The child was regarded as “brimming with ideas and mischief” by his Granton boxing club, while his father, Darryl, praised the “ferocious protector.”
He enjoyed music, but his passion was hanging out with his friends.
David Barclay, a coach at his amateur boxing club, also offered the boy an emotional tribute.
He remarked, with a tear in his eye and a lump in his throat, “On behalf of myself and everyone at the Granton amateur boxing club, we would like to extend our heartfelt sympathies to Jack’s family.”
I can confirm that Jack’s death has saddened the entire community.
“Less than a year ago, you strolled into my boxing gym as a regular adolescent who adored trouble and boxing.
Everyone who knew Jack would agree that he has the heart of a lion. In my opinion, this child would have gone far in the world of boxing.
You were never a member, but you were a member of the small family. May God grant you the most comfortable bed in heaven, and please keep Jack’s family in your prayers. Relax, little champion.

They added, “On behalf of Jack’s family and close friends, we regret to inform you that our dear friend Jack Pollock passed away abruptly on September 29, 2022, at the age of 14.”
Jack was humorous, lovable, and charitable. In his intimate buddy circle, he never failed to make people laugh. Always placing his friends before himself, he cares more about others than himself.
Jack cherished his mother and was a devoted and loving older sibling. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him.
He was committed to training and being the greatest due to his love of boxing. His interests included CDT and history.
We are attempting to raise funds to assist Jack’s mother with anticipated expenditures.
We are aware that no amount of money will ever bring Jack back, but if we can help to relieve some of the family’s stress and burden, we will do so.
