Lincoln, Nebraska: The six young occupants of a vehicle that collided with a tree in Nebraska early on Sunday morning were all dead, according to authorities. The vehicle’s passenger’s cellphone immediately notified emergency personnel.

Five males in a Honda Accord perished at the scene of the accident about 2:15 a.m., approximately three miles east of the state capitol, according to authorities. A 24-year-old lady who was transported to the hospital in severe condition eventually died there.

Among the five fatalities was the 22-year-old driver. One victim was 21 years old, one victim was 23 years old, and two victims were 22 years old.

The cause of the incident is still under investigation, according to police, and it was reported by an iPhone that detected the hit and immediately dialed 911 when the owner did not answer.

“This is the worst accident in recent memory in Lincoln,” stated Lincoln Police Assistant Chief Michon Morrow. We’ve been attempting to recall another disaster of this magnitude, but have come up empty.

Sunday afternoon, investigators were unable to locate any witnesses to the incident, making it more difficult to ascertain what transpired.

“It will take some time to determine the reason of this accident,” Morrow added. We are considering every possibility, including drink, speed, and inattentive driving.
