Ukrainian Intelligence Reports Kadyrov’s Critical Illness
Ukrainian military intelligence has raised concerns about the health of Ramzan Kadyrov, a prominent Chechen warlord known for his close ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
According to unconfirmed reports, Kadyrov is currently in critical condition, and there are suggestions that he may be in a coma.
Medical specialists from Moscow have reportedly been summoned to the regional capital of Grozny, where Kadyrov is said to be receiving treatment.
Official Confirmation from Ukrainian Military Intelligence
Andrey Yusov, the spokesman for GUR military intelligence, acknowledged the reports, stating, “Indeed, there is information that the war criminal Kadyrov is in a serious condition.”
He further confirmed that Kadyrov has experienced a severe health setback and has been in critical condition for several days.
This development follows earlier reports this year that raised concerns about Kadyrov’s health due to noticeable changes in his appearance, such as rapid weight gain and facial swelling.
Speculation Surrounding Kadyrov’s Health
The health of the 46-year-old Kadyrov, who has played a significant role in sending fighters to support Putin’s efforts in the Ukraine conflict, has been a topic of intense speculation in Russia.
It is believed that he has been struggling with serious kidney problems, which have raised questions about his ability to fulfill his duties.
In recent meetings with Putin, Kadyrov appeared breathless and exhibited physical discomfort, struggling to read from a large font.
Allegations of Poisoning and Disappearance of Former Doctor
Reports emerged suggesting that Kadyrov accused his former doctor, Elkhan Suleymanov, who also held positions as health minister and deputy premier, of poisoning him, leading to his health issues.
Suleymanov was subsequently dismissed from his official roles and has not been seen in public for over a year.
While there are claims that he may have been subjected to grave consequences at Kadyrov’s orders, Chechen sources have denied his death, asserting that he is living in Azerbaijan. Nevertheless, there have been no confirmed sightings of Suleymanov for a year.
Kadyrov’s Public Statements on His Health
Amidst ongoing speculation about his health, Kadyrov has made public statements asserting his well-being.
In March, he declared himself “healthy and full of energy,” emphasizing that he underwent regular medical checkups.
He also mentioned recording a film to dispel rumors of his demise.
Ramzan Kadyrov’s Leadership and Putin’s Involvement
Ramzan Kadyrov inherited leadership of the Chechen region from his assassinated father. He is a colonel-general in Putin’s national guard and has played a significant role in the region’s politics and security.
In July, there were renewed health rumors, with exiled Chechen opposition politician Tumso Abdurakhmanov stating that Kadyrov’s kidneys had failed, and dialysis was ineffective.
However, Kadyrov has made appearances since then, seemingly looking slightly healthier.
