The Rivalry between Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle Reached a Climax After the Queen’s Death

According to a new book by royal biographer Robert Jobson, author of “Our King: Charles III: The Man and the Monarch Revealed,” the rivalry between sisters-in-law Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle reached a climax when the Queen died last September.

The book claims that the Princess of Wales had built up resentment towards the Duchess of Sussex for making her miss out on saying farewell to the beloved monarch.

Kate allegedly felt she was forced to remain in England as Queen Elizabeth II died at her Balmoral estate in Scotland in a bid to prevent Meghan and her husband Prince Harry from traveling to the country.

Jobson claimed that King Charles had ordered both wives to stay behind as it was “not appropriate” for spouses to be by the Queen’s deathbed ahead of her death on September 8.

The biographer also insisted that Charles asked Prince William not to bring the then-Duchess of Cambridge, adding that “if Catherine doesn’t come, Meghan can’t either.”

Jobson added that “privately, he wanted to say Meghan was not welcome, but he couldn’t say that to Harry, so he personally intervened and asked Kate to stay back so that it was fairer on Meghan.”

Kate Wanted to See the Queen One Last Time

However, Kate was anxious to journey to Balmoral to see the sovereign one last time before she died because of their close friendship.

Jobson said, “Kate deliberately stayed away, but she desperately wanted to be there with the Queen in her last moments,” adding: “That’s eaten Kate up and has built up resentment towards Meghan.”

Delay of the Walkabout at Windsor Castle

Elsewhere in Jobson’s book, he described how Kate found the walkabout she and William did with Harry and Meghan in the grounds of Windsor Castle days before the Queen’s funeral as “one of the hardest things” she ever had to do.

The event was allegedly delayed by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex at the time because Harry and Meghan “had to go and get changed into appropriate clothing.”
