Blossom, lonely widow goose, finds a new spouse after a cemetery puts a personal ad

Love is in the air, of all places, at the Riverside Cemetery in Marshalltown, Iowa, where a heartbroken goose named Blossom may have found a new partner after the death of her longtime partner.

Blossom and Bud, a pair of domestic geese, had been welcomed to reside on the cemetery grounds a few years prior and had since established a beloved presence among visitors.

But in August of last year, the happy couple’s love story took a devastating turn when Bud passed away, leaving Blossom alone and heartbroken.

Since then, cemetery employees have endeavored to keep Blossom company, but nothing has been able to fill the gap created by Bud’s absence.

When the mating season approached, Blossom’s loneliness became more obvious as she began scouring the graveyard for her lost partner, only to discover her own reflection.

Upon recognizing her desire for company, the cemetery personnel decided to assist Blossom in her search for a new spouse.

Dorie Tammen, the general manager of Riverside Cemetery, put a personal ad in the hopes of locating a suitable suitor for Blossom. Fortunately, a local family owned a male goose named Frankie who, like him, had lost his spouse and was in need of companionship.

It stated, “Lonely, widowed domestic goose seeking companionship and occasional shenanigans.”

Tammen was contacted shortly after publishing the ad by Frankie’s relatives, who were delighted to relocate him to Riverside Cemetery. Blossom and Frankie were to meet on Valentine’s Day, as fate would have it.

Tammen said, “I’m certain they’ll get along.” It is in their nature to be attracted to each other.

According to the most recent report from the cemetery personnel, Blossom and Frankie appear to be getting along rather well.

“Blossom has gone swimming in the water. Friday morning, the cemetery’s Facebook page announced, “Frankie is not having it, but he’s sticking by her side.”

Blossom has become something of an Internet celebrity, with numerous visitors stopping by to say hello and provide her treats.
