Biden to speak on ‘fight for nation’s soul’

The White House has announced that President Joe Biden will give a speech on Thursday night in prime time on the “continued struggle for the Soul of the Nation.”

He will speak in front of Independence Hall in Philadelphia, the location of the deliberations and adoption of the U.S. Constitution and the Declaration of Independence by America’s founding fathers.

The address is being given as Americans get ready to vote in the November midterm elections.

The president will discuss how democracy and America’s position abroad in his comments, a White House official told NBC News. While highlighting the steps taken in the previous two years to safeguard our democracy, Biden will also point out that rights and freedoms are still under danger.

The official said, “He will make it apparent who is fighting for those freedoms, rights, and for our democracy.”

Additionally, Biden’s statement comes as Donald Trump persists in promoting his erroneous assertion that he won the 2020 presidential election.

On Monday, Trump vehemently urged that he be recognised as the victor of the most recent presidential election and that another one be conducted as soon as possible.

The ex-president retold his fabrication that the election was rigged.

This is a level of huge fraud and election interference never previously seen in our nation.

Trump sent the following message on his Truth Social media account: “REMEDY: Declare the rightful winner or, and this would be the least option, declare the 2020 Election irreversibly compromised and have a new Election, immediately!”

As he promotes Democrats ahead of the midterm elections in November, Biden has been targeting Trump supporters.

Last week, at a fundraiser for Democrats at a swanky private residence in the Maryland suburbs outside of Washington, D.C., Biden accused Trump and “radical” Republicans of “semi-fascism.”

About 100 affluent contributors listened as Biden said, “What we’re witnessing today is either the beginning or the death knell of an extreme MAGA mentality.” “It’s not just Trump; it’s the whole mindset that supports it. I’m going to say it’s like semi-fascism,” the speaker said.

In a May 2019 address in Philadelphia, Biden launched his 2020 campaign for president.

According to Biden, the 2017 Unite the Right march in Charlottesville, Virginia, when white supremacists and counterprotesters clashed, motivated him to run for president.

In an effort to aid Democrats in maintaining control of Congress, Biden is increasing his own travel commitments.

His appearance in Philadelphia will be his third in the state of Pennsylvania, a key battleground, in a week.

To support law enforcement, Biden will be in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, on Tuesday. This address was initially planned for mid-July, but was postponed when he tested positive for covid.

Additionally, on Labor Day, as John Fetterman is engaged in a Senate race with Dr. Mehmet Oz, the president will campaign with the Democratic candidate.

Biden will make two campaign stops on Labor Day, visiting two Midwest states with competitive midterm elections in an effort to energise one of the party’s most devoted constituencies.

According to a statement released by the White House on Monday, the president will go to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Milwaukee, Wisconsin to “honour Labor Day and the dignity of American workers.”

Biden will take in the celebrated Labor Day parade in each city. Labor unions are a crucial part of the Democratic base, and Biden has often met with several labour groups.

In preparation for the election in November, the president is sharpening his attack lines against Trump supporters, characterising them as “extreme MAGA Republicans.”

Last week, Biden said that Trump and the MAGA Republicans were “destroying America” during a campaign event in Rockville.

Biden addressed the audience gathering at Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville, Maryland, “I respect conservative Republicans, I don’t respect these MAGA Republicans.”

The MAGA Republicans, according to Biden, “threaten not just our economic security and individual liberties, but also our fundamental democracy.”

They advocate political violence, reject democracy, and refuse to respect the decision of the people, he said. The MAGA Republicans are destroying America right now, so those of us who love this nation need to be stronger, more resolute, and more devoted to save it.

Republicans in Congress who, according to Biden, thought they should have supported the Inflation Reduction Act, his most recent piece of legislation that contains healthcare, prescription medication, and environment measures, but didn’t because they feared political fallout, were named.

Biden stated, “You’d think the Republicans would have voted for the Inflation Reduction Act if they actually cared about bringing down inflation.”

However, every single Republican cast a vote against it, despite the fact that I personally know at least a dozen of them who believed they ought to support it but would face a primary challenge.

In the Senate or the House, no Republican cast a vote in favour of the bill.

Every single American ought to pay it forward when they cast a ballot, according to Biden.

Throughout his speech, Biden attacked the alleged “MAGA Republicans” and the outgoing president harshly.

Biden added, “Donald Trump isn’t just a past president; he’s a defeated former president. In 2020, you and 81 million Americans decided to safeguard our democracy.

Will we be a nation that advances or regresses? Will we focus on the past or will we create the future? He questioned the gathering, “Will we be a country of unity, of hope, and of optimism, not a society of rage, violence, hate, and division?”

“Trump and the far-right MAGA Republicans have decided.” We have made a different decision,’ the president added, “to go backwards, full of rage, violence, hatred, and division.

The governor and senatorial elections in November are both tight in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, where Biden will be speaking over Labor Day.

Next Thursday, the president will visit Ohio, a third midwestern state with a tight race for governor and the Senate.

According to a Gallup survey issued on Thursday, Biden is also on a high after his poll numbers increased to his highest point of the year, 44 percent.

From August 1 to 23, while U.S. adults were being polled, Biden recovered from COVID-19 and a rebound infection, killed al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahri, and signed the Inflation Reduction Act.

Americans are feeling better about certain economic statistics, such as the drop in gas prices.

Democratic candidates are swarming back to Biden’s side after some of them avoided him when he visited their state.

Tim Ryan, a Democratic senatorial candidate from Ohio who was preoccupied the last time Biden visited the state, said he will accompany the president when Biden travels to the state on Thursday.

And on Labor Day, Biden will be joined by Democratic Senate contender John Fetterman.

Next week, John will participate in the Labor Day parade in Pittsburgh, and his campaign said that he is eager to discuss the need to legalise marijuana with the President there.

At the gathering in Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday, Fetterman won’t be there.
