Wednesday’s presentation by Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky to Congress was favorably welcomed by Americans on social media, with many commenting on how effectively he spoke English.
Some also compared the delivery of the non-native English speaker to that of their own president, Joe Biden.
The host of a podcast, Gerry Callahan, wrote, “He speaks English better than our president.” Additionally, Our Vice President. And our House Speaker,’ criticizing the oratory skills of Kamala Harris and Nancy Pelosi as well.
Many on Twitter praised Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky’s speech before Congress, with some remarking that his English may be better than Joe Biden’s.
Callahan also attacked Pennsylvania’s incoming senator, John Fetterman, implying that Zelensky’s military-inspired khaki gear was preferable to Fetterman’s infamously casual work clothes.
This month, Fetterman’s wife mocked The New York Times’ choice to name him one of the most stylish persons of 2022 and demanded a’recount.’
On Wednesday evening’s Tucker Carlson show, he stated that Zelenksy’s military attire made him look like a “manager of a strip club demanding money.”
CNN’s Global Affairs analyst praised the speech and considered how Putin may have perceived Zelenksy’s visit to Washington.
She stated, “There is no doubt that this speech, this venue, and this bipartisan applause irritate Putin. The chef’s smooch? That Zelensky is wonderfully expressing it in English.’
Regional Coordinator of Students for Life Kyle Poen shared a similar observation: “Zelensky, despite English not being his first language, is a stronger speaker than Biden.”
Dillon Thomas, a journalist for CBS, stated, “I know Americans who are paid to speak English on television every day and yet struggle.”
