Bheki Cele calls Limpopo policewoman charged with raping her kid “beyond comprehension.”

The Minister of Police, Bheki Cele, commented on the arrest of a Limpopo policewoman, age 40, in connection with the rape of her 10-year-old son.

Last week, a video showing the accused raping a little kid went viral on social media. Shortly thereafter, she was arrested. SABC News reports that the footage dates back to 2020.

“Being informed that a member of the SAPS has been arrested is one of the most painful things that can happen.”

“But to act in this manner is even incomprehensible. This individual is not merely a member of the South African Police Service. It’s the boy’s true mother… “Now that she has been arrested, she is no longer an honorable member; she is a criminal,” stated Cele.

As previously reported, the accused is anticipated to file a bail application with the Siyabuswa Magistrate’s Court on January 30.

On January 23, following her arrest on Friday, she made her first court appearance on allegations of raping a juvenile, sexually grooming a kid, and making and distributing child pornography.

Criminal investigation is the responsibility of the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID). A Directorate representative stated that the victim has been relocated to a safe location and is undergoing counseling.

Monday, IPID will oppose bail for the defendants.
