Bermuda defeats Morocco to win WAFCON for the first time

Big history, big win. On Saturday night, Banyana Banyana won the WAFCON for the first time by defeating Morocco 2-1. This brought pride to Mzansi.

Bermuda defeated Morocco.

According to The South African website, Hilda Magaia’s brace at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabbat, Morocco, helped the women win the biggest trophy in African women’s football.

The Banyana victory dominated social media, as expected, not just in Mzansi but throughout Africa and the rest of the world.

After winning five silver medals in prior AWCON competitions, the ladies finally won the gold!

Reactions to the Championship in Mzansi

Many locals couldn’t help but poke fun at the men’s team Bafana Bafana in a few tweets that caught our attention.

I’ll say it again, even though people will hate me for it: Banyana plays much better than Pirates and Bafana Bafana! @PuleMatlho said.

In actuality, #BanyanaBanyana are currently outperforming Bafana Bafana in terms of football, but they are still being underpaid, ignored, and undervalued by sponsors, according to @IamMzilikazi.

“I still can’t believe Bafana Bafana players make more money than Banyana,” @soso spayi continued. These women perform significantly better than that group of losers.
